Finley High School can be extremely proud of its students, particularly a group in Year 10 doing a history assessment.
Under the direction of Mrs Jackson, the students were given the task of researching a local who fought in World War II, preferably a family member.
The amount of time and effort extended by Addison Clarke, Cooper Sutton, Harry Daniel, Jack Maude, Jeremy Doolan and Remi Pyle has resulted in six amazing stories told of members of their families and the hardships of war experienced by them.
These stories have been submitted to the Finley RSL Sub-branch for consideration and how they can be used in the existing memorabilia display at the Finley RS Club.

The Finley Lions Club changeover dinner took place at the Bowling Club last Tuesday evening which saw outgoing president Ian Taig hand over the gavel to incoming president Steve McRae, 55 years since the first occasion.
Members from Jerilderie, Berrigan and Tocumwal clubs were there to witness inducting officer Kurt Bauer from Berrigan appoint the office bearers for the 2024/25 year.
The Finley Lions Club members, as those in the surrounding area, are well known for their diligent and dedicated work in the community and are always ready to have a chat to everyone who stops to purchase tickets in the wood raffle on Saturday mornings during winter.

There are many ways one can become involved in community activities, be it a charitable organisation or one just having fun.
Two of the latter met at the Finley RS Club for lunch last Wednesday, namely the Red Hat group from Finley and the recently formed group from Tocumwal.
The Finley group meets on a regular basis for fun and new members are always welcome.

Members of the Finley Lions Club put on brave faces as they sat in the extreme cold at the street stall venue last Saturday selling tickets for the trailer load of wood.
No doubt Michael Emery is a little warmer now as he was the lucky winner last week.

There was a good response to the invitation to stall holders for the Finley Regional Care Auxiliary Expo to be held in support of the 120 years celebration of the Finley School of Arts on Sunday, August 25.
The expo will take place in the Finley War Memorial Hall with lunch, morning and afternoon tea being held in the School of Arts Hall from 10am until 3pm.

The management committee of the Finley School of Arts is very active in organising the 120 years celebration to take place over the weekend of August 24, 25 and 26 and would like to share another memory of activities taken place in the hall in the early years.
One such event was a very formal Back to Finley Ball, circa 1939 held in the hall.
The venue was used for many social occasions over the years and holds many memories of family celebrations.

If you, a family member or a friend is involved with a loved one suffering from dementia, then feel free to attend a morning tea to be held next Tuesday, July 2 at the Finley Country Club Hotel at 11am.
These events held by the Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance take place in Finley on the first Tuesday of the month and in Tocumwal on the third Tuesday of the month.
They are an opportunity to get support and have discussions with members of the alliance.
This is a great opportunity to get together with others who are going through the same journey as you.
