The third round of the Bullawah Wind Farm Community Grants Program opened last week, and closes on November 30.

The program offers community groups the opportunity to apply for grants from $500 to $5,000 and we encourage applications from across the community.

To date the Bullawah grants program has invested almost $65,000 into the local community.

Money has been distributed to community and not-for-profit groups in the Hay, Murrumbidgee and Edward River regions.

Being delivered by BayWa r.e., the proposed Bullawah wind farm will have an installed capacity of up to 1000MW that will generate clean green renewable energy to power 500,000 homes.

Its location sees it share a border with the Oolambeyan National Park, and co-located in the Hay, Edward River and Murumbidgee council areas.

A battery facility on site will allow for the capture and storage of dispatchable energy.

The power generated either direct from the turbines or released from battery storage will feed into the electricity grid via the proposed Project EnergyConnect transmission line.

The project includes 170 wind turbines, with a maximum blade-tip height of 300m above the ground.
