Bushwalking swapped out for bike riding

As a last-minute ‘fill-in’ event, Benalla Bushwalking Club member Brian Watson organised a 20km bike ride along the rail trail from Benalla to the Mokoan Hub Café, with five keen riders taking part.

Why is this ride a club favourite?

Because it is scenic, without road traffic to contend with, it is relatively flat and a ride without pressure.

Brian said outbound from Benalla the group had a nice tailwind, so made the 20km in good time.

“The five bike riders met six club members at the Mokoan Hub Café to share a coffee, cake and a chat out in the sunshine,” he said.

Brian was puzzled that the outbound tailwind had turned into a headwind for the trip home. He said this hindered their progress.

“But we still returned to Benalla in reasonable time,” he said.

“In summary, it was an enjoyable outing, with warm mid-winter sun and great company.”
