Committee for Echuca Moama is encouraging nominations for its A Snapshot in Time 100 Extraordinary Women campaign.
Launched at the C4EM International Women’s Day lunch in March, the initiative will showcase 100 inspiring everyday women from across the community.
The project is in partnership with St Joseph’s College, Echuca, Campaspe Cohuna Local Learning and Employment Network, the Fairley Leadership Program and The Riv.
C4EM chair Cath Lees is delighted to start the initiative, which will share the stories of these women through a book.
“We’re immigrants, we’re locals, we’re farmers, we’re teachers, we’re nurses, we’re business people,” she said.
“We are just an incredible, diverse group of women that live in these smaller rural communities.
“It’s a piece of history... it really is a time capsule.”
The profiles will be created by four to six young women, working with experienced journalists and writers to interview, photograph and document each woman’s story.
One of these budding journos is St Joseph’s College, Echuca school captain Olivia Batchelor, who is looking forward to getting involved.
“I feel like it’s going to be really good experience,” she said.
“It’s good learning how to talk to different kinds of people and ask different questions.”
Nominations are open until April 30, and representatives from across the community are encouraged to apply or nominate someone they feel fits the bill.
A selection committee will choose the 100 women from this pool to ensure a range of perspectives within a 50km radius of Echuca-Moama are represented.
The final product is set to be launched at the next C4EM International Women’s Day celebration on March 1, 2026.
