Voting for the 2024 Victorian Local Government elections has officially closed.

Final votes for a new council were due into Campaspe Shire post boxes or the election office at the former Echuca-Moama Information Centre by 6pm on Friday, October 25.

With 12 candidates, nine positions on council and no limit of wards, Campaspe Shire residents had more options to pick from than in recent years.

As there are no wards, the electorate office will use a proportional vote counting method, conducted by computer to ensure precision that could be missed if done by hand.

Counting began on October 26 and will conclude on November 15.

Early results for Campaspe Shire will be available from Thursday, November 7, with final results declared at 3pm on Friday, November 8.

As the last few votes trickle in and counting gets under way at the election office, stay tuned to the Free Press, the Riverine Herald and Campaspe News for updates available online and in print.
