A car fire created delays for travellers on the Hume Hwy at Seymour on Sunday, January 29 at around 5pm.

A family was travelling in their vehicle, towing a camper trailer, when the car caught fire in the engine bay.

The car was travelling south-bound in the right lane, near the Northwood Rd overpass when they detected the fire.

Two CFA units and Seymour Highway Patrol attended the scene and the car fire was extinguished.

Traffic was impacted for approximately 30 minutes before the right lane was cleared.

The family’s vehicle was towed and the campervan moved to the emergency lane for the family to return and collect.

No-one was injured.
