Police are looking for the driver of a car they say was driven at about 150km/h along Wyndham St in Shepparton on Tuesday, June 20.

Shepparton police Sergeant Tim Mosely said officers spotted a silver or grey Ford sedan speeding on Wyndham St near the intersection with Macintosh St at 11.15pm.

As police activated their lights and sirens, the car sped up, was swerving and driving erratically down Wyndham St, Sgt Mosely said.

Police allege the vehicle reached speeds of 150km/h.

As police chased the car, its headlights were turned off.

The chase continued through Wilmot Rd and Archer St for nine minutes, before police terminated the pursuit near the intersection of Archer St and Channel Rd because of the danger to the public.

Anyone with any information about the driver or with dashcam footage should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report at crimestoppersvic.com.au
