Car involved in fatal hit and run allegedly stolen from Euroa

An allegedly stolen vehicle was involved in a fatal crash, police say.

The car ‒ which police believe was stolen from Euroa on Wednesday, May 8 ‒ was involved in a fatal crash about 50km away later the same day.

Police have been told that the stolen white Ford Ranger collided with a motorcycle on Maroondah Highway at Yarck, near Alexandra, about 4pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The Ford was allegedly dumped on a nearby street and the driver fled on foot, police said.

A man was arrested after police extensively searched the area.

A 42-year-old Seymour man is currently assisting police with enquiries.

Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
