Celebrating its 25th year, Careers Day Out, northern Victoria’s premier expo for education, training and employment, is set to impress.

This year’s expo has already broken records, attracting registrations from over 3000 students and 110 exhibitors.

On May 8 and 9, local school students from Years 9 to 12 are invited to Careers Day Out, organised by the Goulburn Murray Local Learning and Employment Network in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council.

Attendees will have the chance to discover a wide range of career opportunities, educational pathways and employment prospects within the region.

The two-day event features interactive workshops, demonstrations, talks and themed ‘hubs’ for various career fields.

Adding to the excitement, Careers Day Out has proudly announced a new partnership with Koorie Big Day Out.

This partnership seeks to enrich the expo’s offerings and boost Indigenous success and participation in higher education.

Koorie Big Day Out, a Toorong Marnong initiative, is dedicated to opening pathways for First Nations students into higher education, further training and fulfilling employment.

The programming for First Nations youth includes guest speakers, yarning circles, traditional games, cultural arts and community activities.

With many opportunities on offer, City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali expressed his delight in supporting the event.

“Careers Day Out provides local students with the information and knowledge they need to navigate an extremely important stage of their lives as they consider career pathways and future possibilities,” he said.

Event organiser Rebecca Costa-Lowe shared that sentiment.

“We’re thrilled to continue supporting our regional students and helping them pave the way for their futures,” she said.

“This event wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors.”

The Careers Day Out team would like to thank the following sponsors for their contributions: Engage! Victoria, GMLLEN, Greater Shepparton City Council, Wodonga TAFE and GOTAFE.

Careers Day Out is on Wednesday, May 8, and Thursday, May 9, at Wodonga TAFE Shepparton, 145 Wanganui Rd, Shepparton.
