Prep the carols, fill the barrels — it’s 25 years of the Aussie Hotel’s iconic Christmas event.

To mark the quarter century of Carols by Barrels, the line-up for Saturday, December 10 is packed with A-list acts, including international DJ Havana Brown.

Looking back, Aussie Hotel owner Paul Tsorbaris said the annual event, which now shuts Fryers St with thousands of punters, had humble beginnings.

“It initially started in a backyard, then it got too big,” he said.

“It got moved to the Victoria Hotel and then moved again to the Aussie, 25 years ago.”

Mr Tsorbaris said the goal had remained the same, to “make it better and better every year”, with this event no exception.

Havana Brown will be supported by performers from a little closer to home, with the Aussie Hotel’s resident DJs Nick and Dom among those taking the stage.

Crowds are guaranteed to get moving, with live music from Brian Mannix and the Androids, supported by Shane’s Party Club and Current Stand.

Mr Tsorbaris said “without a doubt” Shepparton had always supported the festive event.

“The Aussie is an icon of Shepp too, really, so I’m very pleased to be a part of 25 years of Carols by Barrels,” he said.

The event is over-18s only, gates open at 6pm at the Aussie Hotel, 73 Fryers St, Shepparton. Cash only.

Limited tickets are available and can be purchased for $40 at the Aussie Hotel’s main bar or at the gate on Saturday, December 10 for $50.
