Two garages containing two cars and a boat were destroyed in a fire early on Tuesday, October 4.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at Marionvale, near Katandra, at 3.47am.

While it only took 12 minutes for the first fire truck to arrive at the rural property, the garages were well ablaze when firefighters arrived.

CFA firefighters from Katandra, Tallygaroopna, Wunghnu, Yabba North, Drumanure and Cosgrove/Pine Lodge brigades, as well as Fire and Rescue Victoria’s Shepparton brigade, fought the fire.

CFA District 22 commander Rohan Taylor praised the efforts of firefighters to contain the fire to the two garages only.

“Crews worked hard to stop it spreading to the house nearby,” he said.

The fire took about 25 minutes for firefighters to bring under control.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, Mr Taylor said.
