The Tocumwal Post Office is calling all wordsmiths to submit ideas for a new town slogan.

Whether heartfelt, factual or humorous, the winning slogan will appear on a suite of souvenirs — including stubby holders, magnets and bumpers stickers.

Tocumwal Post Office co-owner Sharon Stevens said there have been many requests for Tocumwal souvenirs from tourists, but there have not been many available.

Judging from the response to the post office’s Facebook post, it appears this sentiment is shared by many in the community.

Mrs Stevens said they had not expected such a huge response to the Facebook post.

“We thought maybe we’d get 20 or 30 comments,” she said.

“I think everyone who lives here is generally very proud to live here and proud of the area.

“We thought we’d put it out to them and see what they wanted.”

Those who think they’ve got the words to fit the bill are invited to leave a comment on the post office’s Facebook or Instagram pages.

Once submissions close, the Stevenses will select the top three slogans and allow community members to vote for their favourite in a Facebook poll at the weekend.

Submissions close on Friday, October 11.
