Traffic was banked up for more than an hour on the morning of Thursday, August 24, after a four-vehicle crash on the causeway between Shepparton and Mooroopna during a peak time.
Police said three cars had been stopped, when a fourth allegedly ran into the back of one, in the east-bound lane of the Midland Hwy about 8.30am..
This caused a chain reaction of the cars colliding with each one in front of it.
Police said two women were taken to Goulburn Valley Health by ambulance for precautionary checks.
More than an hour after the crash, the traffic heading towards Shepparton was still at a crawl.
