CFA rapidly respond to fire in Cobram East

Cobram CFA, along with the assistance of water bombers and crews from neighbouring brigades, extinguished a fire on the Murray Valley Highway on Wednesday, March 6.

Eight CFA units from Cobram, Yarrowyeah, Strathmerton and Muckatah responded to reports of a grass and scrub fire along the highway at around 5.20pm.

Victoria Police and Powercor were also called to the scene.

A CFA spokesperson said crews discovered a wooden power pole on fire as well as a grass fire on both sides of the highway.

The incident was deemed under control at 5:58pm.

Crews remained on the scene for 30 minutes to blackout, and it was deemed safe at 6:29pm.
