CFA units sent to battle Koonoomoo bush and scrub fire

The area of Koonoomoo was flooded with 32 CFA units responding to a grass and scrub fire on Tuesday, February 13.

The fire, located on the Cobram Track near Koonoomoo, began at 7.43am.

CFA crews from Cobram, Nathalia, Numurkah, Cogs Group, Yarrawonga, Yarroweyah, Strathmerton, Cobram East and Boosey, Katunga, Waaia, Muckatah, Numurkah, Katamatite, Toolamba, Killawarra, Benalla, Browns Plain, Echuca, Glenrowan, Goorambat, Murchison, Nagambie, Tallygaroopna, Tatong and Wangaratta attended the scene.

Forest Fire Management Victoria was also in attendance, and helicopter water bombers were also deployed.

According to a CFA spokesperson, firefighters were faced with multiple fires burning when units arrived at the scene.

Victoria Police was notified of the incident, which was brought under control at 10.14am and deemed safe at 11.36am.
