Water NSW has issued a warning indicating that the water in the Yarrawonga Weir is currently unsuitable for potable use.

This means that further treatment of raw water for domestic purposes will be required.

Consequently Berrigan Shire Council has announced it is changing the dosing of chemicals to suit treatment requirements and ensure raw water quality.

The increase in chemical management however will result in a strong smell and taste, which will remain obvious to users.

Prior to this change water treatment operators had managed to provide water within normal operational requirements.
