A child was hit by a car in Kialla on Friday, February 16.

Police said the Kialla boy, 12, was knocked to the ground after a 36-year-old Kialla woman driving a Ford sedan hit him on a roundabout.

The incident happened at the Wendouree Dve and Sanctuary Dve intersection about 5.10pm.

The boy was riding his bike north along Wendouree Dve when the sedan, travelling east on Sanctuary Dve, hit him and the boy was pushed 5m into the roundabout.

The child was assisted by members of the public before an ambulance attended the scene.

He was taken to GV Health for assessment and was cleared of any injuries.

There were no alcohol or drugs involved and the woman has been given a penalty infringement notice for failing to give way on a roundabout.
