Gear up for some festive fun in Strathmerton.

Bring out the candy canes and don that festive outfit because the Strathmerton Community Steering Committee and Strathmerton Lions invite everyone to their Christmas Community Barbecue.

The free event, which Moira Shire Council supports, will be on Saturday, December 16, from 5pm to 8pm at the Lions Park on Main St.

The Christmas Community Barbecue will coincide with the Steering Communities launch of their next five year plan.

The event will include entertainment, including performances from the Strathmerton Primary School Choir, slushies, fairy floss and a visit from Santa.

Organisers advise attendees to bring their own drinks, chairs, picnic rugs and insect repellant.

Strathmerton Community Steering Committee chair person Kerry Murray urges anyone wanting to attend the fantastic community event to come along.

“Everything is free,” she said.

“Santa will come and give the kids a free gift. It’s a relaxing, family-friendly event.”
