Christmas has come early at Mooroopna Park Primary School, with free bikes and laptops for students.
Students from Years 3 to 6 have been given the laptops to help their educational growth and personal development.
The laptops were provided after an application to educational authorities was made by the school’s business manager.
Principal Hayden Beaton is ecstatic about the laptops.
“(The laptop) is something that they can take home, take to school and help them with their studies,” Mr Beaton said.
The school plans to incorporate the use of laptops into all subjects.
As well as the laptops, the Year 5 and 6 students have been given free second-hand bikes courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Mooroopna.
The bikes were donated to the club, whose members taught the students how to repair and maintain them.
The lessons not only helped build community relations but also gave the students invaluable life skills.
According to Mooroopna Park Primary School Council president Hollie Purton, the bikes represent the school’s commitment to the students’ health and wellbeing, which goes beyond just formal education.
