Strathbogie Shire Council has announced Claire Ewart-Kennedy as the shire’s mayor for the next 12 months.
Cr Ewart-Kennedy was elected to the position by her peers at a recent council meeting.
She said she was honoured to have the role as mayor, as she was a proud rural girl who now followed in the commitment to public service of her mother and father-in-law.
“I will work together with my councillor colleagues for the needs and concerns of the Strathbogie community,” she said.
Cr Scott Jeffery was elected as deputy mayor.
Council interim chief executive Tim Tamlin congratulated the new councillors following their election and said he looked forward to working with them into the new year.
