Claire wins weekend getaway

Claire Cowley was the very lucky winner of the $1000 Deniliquin Travel Centre voucher.

After a couple of years of closed borders and limited travel, what could be better than winning a $1000 travel voucher to help calm the travel cravings.

Out of the 3,345 people who entered the Weekend Getaway competition featured in the Pastoral Times recently, Claire Cowley was the very lucky winner of the $1000 Deniliquin Travel Centre voucher.

While sipping on cocktails in Greece or slurping up pasta in Italy may be your dream vacay, Claire has decided to stay a bit closer to home.

“We (the family and I) are planning to go away for a few days to Glenelg,” said Claire.

“We usually go every couple of years and have been planning a trip for a little while, so this will definitely help out.”

Like most people, Claire has been unable to do much travel for the last few years, and hasn’t been back to Glenelg for nearly four years.

“It will be such a lovely little getaway, so hopefully we can get there before Christmas.”

Claire is no stranger to winning local competitions, having won a family pass to the Ute Muster a couple of years ago, but said she was still very surprised to have won nonetheless.

“I entered on the last day and thought I may as well give it a crack,” she said.

“As I say to all my friends, you have to be in it to win it.

“But when I got the call a few days later after I had won I was very surprised and thrilled.”

The Weekend Getaway competition aimed to promote regional travel, encouraging locals to book a holiday through a regional travel agent.
