Clairvoyant Trina Brown has again expanded her gaze towards the literary world.
The former Kyabram local is returning to the Goulburn Valley, stopping at the Aussie Hotel in Shepparton on Saturday, May 11, to launch her second book, Lessons From Spirit.
Ms Brown will share her journey of clairvoyant to author, discuss her new work of non-fiction, sign copies and perhaps even offer guests a reading if she’s called upon to do so.
“I’ve had a number of Victorian clients ask me for readings while I’m there,” she said.
“If it happens, they’ll be platform readings where I pick someone out of the crowd, but I’ll go by what people who come to the event want to do.”
Despite possessing supernatural abilities, her gift of writing is all-natural.
Although labelled a memoir, Lessons From Spirit is an inspirational and heartfelt reflection piece peppered with poetry.
There are dark themes — death and grief — layered with unexpected humour and life lessons.
“We do have to find the laughter and the joy, even in our darkest hours,” Ms Brown said.
“It’s not easy. It’s important to breathe through it, and within that breathing, people come to understand that we are born with love that never dies.”
Some of the book’s contents are chalked up to the teachers in her life — her father, older brother and grandfather.
“We have a tendency to learn from the people we come in contact with, and as we learn, we become better humans,” she said.
“There’s a chapter on my father who died when I was 18, and I didn’t get to say goodbye to him.
“His death was a catalyst for me being a clairvoyant medium.
“If I feel that (grief) and seek him, I can feel him, and I thought, what would others feel?”
Since age four, Ms Brown has been able to tap into her gifts and interact with her guides, whom she calls “her people”.
With their help, she’s bridged the divide between many clients and those they have lost.
“One of the things I find wonderful in my work is that every day, I sit and read with my clients who have been through hardships — suicide, mental illness,” she said.
“Those hard times teach you a hell of a lot of things about yourself.
“I don’t remember a lot of my readings, some I do and significant ones I have put in the book, but I’m trained not to remember anything.”
With permission from select clients, Ms Brown’s writing delves into a pool of grief-struck experiences.
Some of which come from her work on the right side of the law.
Using her psychic powers, Ms Brown has assisted authorities in numerous missing person cases.
Sadly, most are found deceased.
“A couple of weeks ago, a neighbour and her dog went missing,” she said.
“Initially, I knew she had not passed, but then immediately, she started coming in, and I knew.
“They found her dead, unfortunately.”
The connection, the responsibility, the desperation to seek answers — it’s a lot for one woman.
But with an army of her people behind her, she’s never alone, knowing that the soul guides us through the lessons we need to learn.
Her latest book carries that message.
“Hopefully, readers will find an understanding that life can have many ups and downs, but we learn a lot,” she said.
“My guides taught me that, and I trust them with my life.”
Trina Brown’s Lessons From Spirit book launch is on Saturday, May 11, from 1pm to 3pm, at the Aussie Hotel, 73 Fryers St, Shepparton.
