Tocumwal Football Netball Club held its Anzac Day commemorations after round five matches against Katandra.

The annual ANZAC medals were awarded to the best on ground.

Congratulations Kira Dickins on winning the Alice Adcock medal for best in A-grade netball and to Brayden Sciuto on winning the Sandy Family medal for best in seniors football.

Tocumwal has a long history with the armed forces, particularly during World War II when the air force base was located at Tocumwal.

The club paid tribute to local WWI and WWII heroes.

If running or even walking four kilometres isn’t for you and you would like to be involved in the Tocumwal Mother’s Day Classic, then the organisers would love to hear from you to fill one of the volunteer roles they have open.

The volunteers spend the event sitting in a camp chair with a blanket and hot coffee at one of the checkpoints directing and cheering on the participants as they pass by.

That sounds appealing to me, and your time will contribute towards the funds raised for breast cancer research.

There are also positions in the finish line cheer squad to hand out water and medals, and a photographer role too.

If you are able to assist, please get in touch with Jenny Philpot by calling 0439 451 805 or through the Tocumwal Mother’s Day Classic Facebook page. You can also sign up at https://mdc.rosterfy.com.au/register.

Registrations for the Mother’s Day Classic are still open via www.mothersdayclassic.com.au.

With only days to go, now is the time to register for this great event for an incredible cause.
