In a significant boost to the ‘Corowa Rutherglen Football Netball Club’, the unveiling of their new canteen at the John Foord Oval has marked an exciting milestone this season, thanks to the generous support of Club Corowa.

This modern facility is a welcomed addition to the club and will become a focal point on game days, not just for providing essential food services but also as a crucial revenue stream vital for the club's ongoing operations.

Following the triumphant return of the Roos to the Ovens and Murray League this season, John Foord Oval has been a hub of activity since early March. The venue has once again hosted senior club games, junior club games, training nights, Auskick Friday nights, Murray Bushranger games, and an array of other community-driven events.

After the devastating flood in 2022 which left their clubrooms unusable, the club faced a challenge to ensure compliance with Food Standards Safety codes to continue their food services.

The newly established canteen has not only met this challenge but has also become a centrepiece for the club, renowned throughout the Ovens and Murray League for its high-quality offerings.

The club takes pride in supporting local businesses by sourcing most of its supplies locally, thus contributing to the local economy and nurturing community ties.

Club President, Mr Graham Hosier, expressed immense gratitude to Club Corowa, acknowledging their role in making the new canteen a reality.

"Club Corowa's commitment to our club and community has been instrumental in our ability to bounce back stronger with this great new facility," Mr Hosier said.

Mr Peter Norris, CEO of Club Corowa, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the broader community benefits of supporting initiatives like the new canteen.

"Supporting initiatives like this not only enhances the game day experience but also strengthens community bonds and local economies," Mr Norris said.

"We eagerly anticipate further successes in collaboration with the club in the seasons ahead.“

With the new canteen now a fixture at John Foord Oval, the club members and both local and regional residents alike are looking forward to enjoying its benefits for many seasons to come.
