The 34th annual Good Friday Appeal held at the Jerilderie Sports Club raised more than $24,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Thanks has been expressed to the community of Jerilderie and beyond for supporting this worthwhile charity.
There were 165 golfers and 48 bowlers involved on the day,
A special thanks to Jerilderie Apex Club members who sold drinks on the course, and the Lions Club who sold food to the golfers.
Organisers are looking ahead to next year to provide a bigger and better appeal to celebrate their 35th Good Friday Appeal Golf and Bowls Day.

Easter weekend also draws the ‘big kids’ and their toys.
A big group of flyers were once again at the Jerilderie Racecourse for the duration, with their motorised planes providing a gentle background buzz to weekend activities.
The League of Silent Flight will no doubt be back in June for their long-weekend trials.

Someone doing her individual bit to fundraise for a good cause is Kylie Honeyman Davis.
Kylie, who now lives in Sydney, is the elder daughter of Marjie Honeyman, and she has been swimming to raise money for mental health.
She completed a Laps for Life challenge in which she swam 10km, in four pools, and raised more than $400, thanks to all her generous donors.

More than one in three young Australians is currently experiencing a mental health problem, and more than one million are not accessing professional support.

The Uniting Church holiday program will be held at the Jerilderie Racecourse from April 22 to 24, from 9am to 4pm each day.
Registration forms are available through the two schools or email jacquirobertson58@gmail.com.
Activities will include sports, cooking, canoeing, storytelling, singing, and lots more.
A Christian youth group and leaders from Sydney are coming to town to run the activities.
All child protection and safety requirements will be met.
Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day will be fully catered for.
Cost is $10 per day per child. Families with more than two children will pay a maximum of $20 per day.

Jerilderie Hospital Auxiliary held a successful raffle stall last Friday, raising almost $400 to be used for the care and comfort of our residents and patients at the MPS.
Winner of the box of fruit and veg was Helen Harris.
Thanks to everyone for the generous support given to this fundraiser.
Our ticket sellers just can’t seem to get the right weather for our days on the fundraising beat.

The Berrigan Shire Dementia Alliance will be holding an information morning at the Finley RS Club tomorrow, April 11, from 10.15am for 10.30am.
The presentation will seek to clarify the mysteries of My Aged Care Home Care packages, and help to better understand how you can use them to your advantage.
Residents of the Berrigan Shire and surrounding towns are welcome to attend.

Youth Week 2024 is from April 11 to April 21.
Murrumbidgee Council is offering free activities in a Youth Holiday Break Program for various age groups living in the council area.
In Jerilderie on Monday, April 15, from 11am to 3pm, it will be Read the Play, involving trivia, games, prizes and fun, for ages 14 to 18 years. Lunch and snacks are provided.
On Wednesday, April 17, for ages 12 to 18 years, there is to be a bus trip to Wagga for paintball and bowling.
In Darlington Point on Wednesday, April 24, there will be a beginners’ skate workshop from 11am.
Registration is essential for all activities.

Mark your calendars. Murrumbidgee Council will be providing free activities to mark Seniors Week in May 2024.
A Celebrating Seniors Festival will be taking in Jerilderie, Darlington Point and Coleambally.
In Jerilderie there will be an ‘Olympics’ seniors luncheon on Thursday, May 2, with morning tea from 10.30am at the Jerilderie Sports Club.
This promises to be a fun-filled day of Olympic-themed games, laughs, and a free lunch.
On Friday, May 3, there will be a seniors’ movie at the Jerilderie library from 1pm.
Bookings are essential for all activities, so please call at the local council office on 1300 676 243 to book, or for more information.
