Cobram and district fundraisers brought in $120,422 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The figure is part of the more than $23,061,320 raised across Victoria.
The Courier has been given a breakdown of numbers of money raised within Cobram and the surrounding areas:
Cobram-Barooga: $34,857;
Tungamah: $30,145;
Tocumwal: $11,928;
Strathmerton: $4793;
Numurkah: $19,560; and
Nathalia: $19,139
The CFA, which could be seen at traffic intersections across the state, raised a total of $1,606,287 for the Good Friday Appeal.
CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan said those who took part should be proud of their achievements and thanked the various units for their support.
“I want to thank and congratulate all participating brigades across Victoria for the fantastic contribution they have all made to this year’s Good Friday Appeal,” he said.
“Our members give up their time to serve their communities in times of need and it’s no surprise that their selflessness extends to worthy causes such as supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital.”
The CFA has been a major fundraiser for the Good Friday Appeal for the past 72 years.
Good Friday Appeal chairman Penny Fowler said the appeal showed the very best of the Victorian community and the money would help ensure children at the Royal Children’s Hospital continued to receive world-class treatment.
“We are incredibly grateful to communities in Victoria and all the volunteers for digging deep for the Royal Children’s Hospital,” she said.
