Cobram and District Specialist School will once again host a futures expo this year, designed to help students connect with different NDIS providers in the area.

The expo, which will be held at the Cobram Civic Centre on August 8, will be the third edition of the event, with school students who have access or are looking at gaining access through the NDIS given the opportunity to gain information about local services.

“We started the expo in 2022 to hopefully connect students and families at our school with other community organisations, and it was mainly to try and connect them with the external agencies as they were leaving school,” CDSS occupational therapist Celine Collins Bye said.

“But it has morphed into an opportunity for all of our students and their families, and other students and families in the wider Cobram and Moira Shire area, to connect with other supports regardless of where they’re at in their schooling journey.”

The expo will see 28 stallholders present on the day, giving students and families an opportunity to learn more about the services on offer.

“We’ve got a bit of variety,” CDSS wellbeing officer Bec Einsporn said.

“We’ve got one (stall) for future learning, people who provide school leaving services through the NDIS, or respite through the NDIS.

“We’ve also got other community-based services (stalls) such as Family Care.”

The Cobram and District Specialist School Futures Expo will be held between 10.30am and 12.30pm on August 8 at the Cobram Civic Centre.
