Cobram Community House will be celebrating the diversity of the local community with a morning tea on Thursday, March 21.
The Cultural Diversity in Cobram Morning Tea event, which begins at 10.30am, is part of the nationwide Cultural Diversity Week, which runs between March 18 and 24.
The week-long celebrations are designed to celebrate multicultural community’s power, influence, and stories. The theme of the 2024 event is Our Shared Stories — Celebrating Together.
Cultural Diversity Week has traditionally been celebrated at CCH which has a staff and volunteer cohort made up of variety of ethnicities and helps people of all backgrounds.
CCH chief executive officer Christine Osborne said the event is free of charge and attendees will be able to enjoy tea/coffee and a range of multicultural treats.
“We will celebrate the diversity within our community and hear from community members who will share their experience of coming to Australia,” she said.
Ms Osborne told the Courier that hosting a special multicultural morning tea is all part of CCH’s mission to support the local community.
"Hosting a cultural diversity morning tea in Cobram benefits the community by promoting inclusivity, fostering understanding and respect, raising awareness and creating an opportunity for social connection,“ she said.
“Events such as these support Cobram Community House’s mission of providing opportunities for our community’s resilience, growth and prosperity.
“I encourage the community to attend to celebrate the rich culture within our community.”
