Cobram Lions Art show hailed a massive success

The Cobram Lions Art Show, held at the Old St Joseph’s Hall, has been labelled a massive success with Madison Jennings being declared the overall winner.

Madison’s entry won the the International Peace Poster category, as well as the best art piece in the 10-14 year old category, and the people’s choice winner for that category.

The peace poster division is part of a wider Lions International competition and Madison will now continue to the national competition.

Charlotte Berkelaar was the winner in the over 15 years, and above open section.

Both Madison and Charlotte left with a certificate as well as a cash prize.

There were other winners for various categories.

The free event, which ran on Friday, August 18 and Saturday, August 19 was attended by people of all walks of life, and Cobram Lions president Janet Austin has labelled the 2023 art show a massive success.

There was a total of 49 entries comprising of drawings, photographs and paintings.

“We are very happy... the quality of the work is brilliant,” Ms Austin said.

She said finding a winner was not an easy task.

“I was here for the judging and it was very hard for them (the judges)” Mrs Austin said.

Mrs Austin said she hopes that the competition will only get bigger and better.

“We would like to see this grow and thrive,” she said.
