It wasn't a bad start for the Cobram Roar division one men’s team as they drew 2-2 in their first game of the 2024 Albury-Wodonga Football Association season.

Cobram played at home against the Albury Hotspurs on Sunday, March 17 with Cobram's Jackson Temarkon and Jake Kaltz both putting the ball into the net.

However, their best efforts were countered by Hotspurs Emmanuel Balassopoulos and Jacob Schreiber, who both scored a goal.

Four Cobram players were given yellow cards in perhaps a case of first-game excitement.

Hotspurs’ Schreiber also received a yellow card, the only one for his side.

Though the men’s team can be pleased with their result, the same can perhaps not be said for the division one Roar women.

Playing in Cobram, the home side went down 3-0 against the Albury Hotspurs in a nightmare start to the season.

Hotspurs’ Elisha Wild put two balls into the back of the net, with Charlotte Laird adding a third goal for the guests’ tally.

The senior men’s and women’s teams battle for their spot in the next round of the FA Cup this Wednesday and Thursday night with the women taking on Twin City Wanderers at 7.45pm Wednesday, March 20 and the men taking on Melrose at 7pm on Thursday, March 21.
