The Cobram Anglican Grammar School dux has been announced as the school posts its best ATAR score since its founding.
Cody Lincoln has been named dux with a jaw-dropping 99.55 ATAR score and is proud and admittedly shocked about his result.
“It’s an honour to hold this achievement and a privilege to have had such a supportive community around me that believed in me even when I didn’t,” Cody said.
The now CAGS graduate studied software development, further maths, physics, English, maths methods and specialist maths.
Physics was his favourite subject and he scored a perfect 50.
“I enjoyed the practical applications to theoretical problems and observing real-world phenomena under a mathematical lens,” he said.
Cody also achieved study scores of 48 in both mathematics methods and specialist mathematics and has plans to study IT at Monash University in Melbourne.
His advice to students is simple.
“Never give up and you’ll never be let down,” he said.
Cody’s mother Renee Lincoln is naturally proud of her son’s achievement.
“It’s surreal. I knew with the work he put in to his studies he’d get a high score, but not what he got, I didn’t expect that,” she said.
Another three CAGS students received ATAR scores of more than 90.
Martin Kong received 98.05, Cadence Pang received 97.85 and Harrison Brooker achieved 92.
Martin’s score was elevated by 45 in mathematics methods and 40 in physics, while Cadence received 43 in English and 40 in mathematics methods and Harrison got 42 in English.
Principal Keith Willett said the school was immensely proud of not only those four, but every student who received their results on Monday morning.
“Of course, it is not just these students that we must celebrate as a school community, but indeed our entire Year 12 cohort,” Mr Willett said.
“We don’t lose sight of the fact that Year 12 is a testing year that brings added pressure and stress. With this said, we congratulate every Year 12 student who received their results (Monday) morning.”
Mr Willett acknowledged the collaborative effort between students, teachers and parents in creating an environment that valued and supported academic excellence.
“These ATAR results are the best in the school’s 24-year history, an incredible testament to the hard work, commitment and sacrifice made by these students over the course of their VCE studies,” he said.
“These outstanding results also serve to highlight the incredible educators and staff we have at Cobram AGS, who will deservedly celebrate with these students and share in their success.”
