The passenger of a Nissan X-Trail had to be cut from the car after a collision with a single trailer prime mover in Jerilderie on Sunday.

The car was reportedly attempting to enter Conargo Rd from South Coree Rd when it was t-boned by a truck.

Jerilderie Fire + Rescue NSW Captain Andrew Bell said the Nissan was struck on the passenger side, deploying the airbags as a result of a “low kilometre impact”.

A hydraulic rescue tool was used to cut the doors from the passenger side to release the female passenger.

She was reported to have not sustained any major injuries, but was taken to hospital by ambulance for assessment.

The male driver of the Nissan and the male driver of the truck were uninjured in the incident.

Berrigan tip fire

Berrigan’s Rural Fire Service tended to a “small tip fire” in Berrigan yesterday.

Federation Group Captain Greyd’n Davis said the Berrigan brigade had support from other local brigades to extinguish the blaze which was “putting off a lot of smoke”.

Once under control, firefighters left Berrigan Shire Council staff in charge of monitoring the fire site.
