Come for the Xtravaganza

Finley’s Maggie and Wynnie Walsh took time out with friend Colleen Rockliff (centre) after performing at the Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre on Saturday.

The 2024 Finley Christmas Xtravaganza will be held this Saturday, December 21 at Finley Railway Park and is proudly supported by Finley Lions Club.

The event will start at 5.30pm and entry will be free.

There will be lots of entertainment with carols, kids rides, food and drink and, of course, a visit from the big man in the big red suit - Santa!

‘Light up Finley’ Christmas light awards will be announced with judging taking place today.

This is a great opportunity to get together with family and friends and enjoy the season of Christmas as a community.

If you haven’t already purchased tickets in the Finley RSL Sub-branch Christmas raffle, you can still do so with the ticket sellers at Finley IGA today, tomorrow and up until 4pm Friday when the draw will take place. Cost is $2 each or three for $5.

The first prize consists of a 45 litre Techni ice box (valued at $450) as well as a basket, both of which will be filled with Christmas goodies.

There are also two more baskets similarly stocked for second and third prizes.

The members of the sub-branch would like to thank everyone for the generous support over the past 12 months with fundraising and commemorative services.

It is very much appreciated.

They would also like to extend best wishes to the community for a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year and look forward to catching up with everyone in 2025.

The Uniting Church community would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year.

Dance students of varying ages from a wide area, including Finley, Tocumwal and Berrigan, took part in the end of year concert held by League 23 at the Wangaratta Performing Arts & Convention Centre last Saturday.

League23 Performing Arts Collective is situated in Cobram and tutors students in an interesting range of dance styles.

There were three sessions held on Saturday with several students from the Berrigan Shire area taking part and families and friends in attendance to witness some amazing performances.

Maggie and Wynnie Walsh from Finley were two of the locals who took part, much to the delight of their parents, Lawrence and Kate.

The girls are enjoying their dance experience and are looking forward to returning to classes in the new year.
