The community is being invited to learn more about plans to establish a new secondary school option in Deniliquin from next year.
Melos Group is progressing through steps to open the Riverina Christian Collage at the site of the former Deniliquin Christian School.
A meet and greet and information session will be hosted today at The Crossing Cafe in George St, Deniliquin.
You can head along to the ‘open house’ any time between 10am and 3.30pm to meet Melos Group executive principal Phillip Nash.
Mr Nash will share details of the proposed school, and is also happy to take expressions of interest from prospective students.
The aim is for the school to be operational for term one in 2026.
“An application for registration and accreditation with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) is being prepared with approval expected to be granted part way through 2025 for a 2026 commencement,” the organisation said.
Melos Education Ltd is a not-for-profit charitable company which operates six other Christian schools across NSW and has a vision for a flourishing high school in Deniliquin.
Its schools are all grounded in a philosophy of education that sees the Christian faith informing the perspectives presented in education, but the college will be open to people of all faiths.
Mr Nash has previously said the school is expected to begin with only a limited intake of students in certain grades, Years 7 and 8, and grow in subsequent years. But he said the final decision would be based on community interest.
The school is expected to offer both face-to-face and online lessons, meaning the school would not be limited in the subjects it can offer.
Formal registrations cannot be taken until the school has been approved to open, but expressions of interest are now being taken.
