Commemorating Anzac Day

Anzac Day will be commemorated in Corowa on April with a Dawn Service and an 11am service at the Corowa Monument.

As the dawn breaks on April 25, the streets of Corowa will fall silent as the community comes together to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who fought for our country's freedom.

The day will commence with the Dawn Service at 6:00am at the Corowa Monument with the community being asked to arrive 15 minutes early. This solemn service will pay tribute to the brave soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Following the Dawn Service, a Gunfire Breakfast will be held at 6:30am, with tickets available prior to the service and immediately after. A gold coin donation is requested for entry.

In Wahgunyah, the community will assemble at the School of Arts Hall at 9.15am for the March and service at the cenotaph.

At 10:30am, the Corowa community will assemble in front of the Commonwealth Bank for the march up to the Corowa Monument for the 11:00am service. The guest speaker for the event will be Captain Peter Dowton from the Royal Australian Navy.

Corowa RSL Sub-Branch President Lesley Rinehart is encouraging the community to be part of the significant day.

“Anzac Day is a special day for all Australians and New Zealanders. It is a day for us to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our brave soldiers in defense of our country,” she said.

"We are pleased to be able to hold these events and provide the community with an opportunity to come together and pay their respects.”

The Anzac Day Luncheon will commence at 12:45pm at the Corowa RSL Club for ticketed patrons, providing an opportunity to come together and share stories of loved ones who have served. Tickets are $20 for RSL members and $40 for guests.
