The timeline for residents of Victoria to have their say on the 2026 Commonwealth Games has been extended to Friday, August 12.
The Call for Ideas process is asking local communities across the state how their town could best be showcased during the Games.
With four regional hubs, Geelong, Bendigo, Ballarat and Gippsland, confirmed for the Games, there is opportunity for other regions to play a role.
“We’re working closely with a number of different community groups to ensure the 2026 Victoria Games showcase the very best regional Victoria has to offer,” Commonwealth Games Delivery Minister Jacinta Allan said.
The process is open to local residents and businesses, Traditional Owner groups, creative and cultural organisations, and local councils.
It’s estimated the Commonwealth Games will bring in more than $3 billion to Victoria’s economy, along with creating approximately 7500 jobs in the process.
The 2026 event will run from March 17 to March 29.
