Community comes together in support

Community members being welcomed by Lourene Liebenberg.

Deniliquin’s Mental Health Awareness Group gathered with members of the community on Tuesday to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

People were invited along to participate in a World Suicide Prevention Day walk and lunch.

The international event is observed in more than 160 countries and aims to break down the stigma around speaking up when you’re feeling down.

Meeting at the barbecue area in Waring Gardens, the collective group of community members went on a 30-minute walk through the Island Sanctuary.

On the way back, walk participants dropped past Harry Pepper for a coffee and returned to the Waring Gardens for a light lunch.
