A massive community fundraiser for the family of the late Trent Horneman will be held at Rich River Golf Club on Friday, August 30 — and everyone is invited.

Trent was just 41 when he died at work late last month.

He is survived by his wife, Nacole, and their children, Tyler, 12, and Laura, 8.

Rich River chief executive Shane Gloury said a fundraiser would feature special guests, who will be announced soon, plus “some unique opportunities” through silent auctions, feature auctions on the night and a major raffle.

“More details about the format of the evening — which includes a wonderful two-course dinner together with some entertainment — will be unveiled in the next couple of weeks,” Mr Gloury said.

“I think the community will rally behind this event because Trent was very popular and very well known in the Echuca-Moama region.

‘’He was also the first one to put his hand up to help others and I know many people now want to do what they can to support Trent and the people in his life that meant everything to him.

“The incredible crowd at his funeral earlier this month was testament to Trent’s popularity and the impact he had on people, and we know that support will flow over to helping his young family face a challenging future without him.”

Trent worked as a journalist with the Pastoral Times in Deniliquin, the Wimmera Mail-Times in Horsham, the Riv and ACE Radio, covering both Deniliquin and Echuca-Moama, before reinventing himself in the local hospitality industry in a variety of marketing and customer relations roles.

‘’This event will be extremely important for the Horneman family, and I think this fundraiser will be an opportunity to celebrate his life in a way which captures Trent’s own happy and friendly personality — with a fun night out,’’ Mr Gloury said.

Tickets for the fundraiser will go on sale from July 29, with all proceeds going to the Horneman family. They are $75 each and available at www.trybooking.com/CTTSI
