The 2024 Business Chamber Employment EXPO, held last Wednesday night at Club Corowa, was an overwhelming success, bringing together over 70 participants eager to explore new job opportunities within our region.

Organisers were especially pleased to welcome more than 30 members from the Congolese community in Albury/Wodonga, who expressed great enthusiasm about the job prospects and the possibility of relocating to our area.

The event featured seven local organisations, each offering a diverse range of roles that sparked palpable excitement and engagement throughout the evening. The participating employers included: Rivalea (part of JBS), Federation Council, Cofield Wines, Amaranth Foundation, Corowa Golf Club, Kilara Group and Uncle Toby's (part of Nestle).

The diversity of companies and roles presented at the expo lent itself to genuine opportunities for attendees, making it clear that our region has much to offer those seeking employment.

Special thanks are due to Jesmine Coromandel, Stakeholder Engagement and Projects Officer for Workforce Australia Murray Riverina. Jesmine and her team partnered with our Regional Business Chamber to create a seamless event that brought together job seekers and employers in a dynamic and effective way.

John Crothers, Executive Officer for the Regional Business Chamber, hosted the evening. He facilitated engaging interviews with each employer, delving into their organizational culture, the roles available, and what they seek in potential employees. This format allowed attendees to gain a deeper understanding of what each company offers and what it takes to become part of their team.

Supported by Club Corowa, Rivalea, and Workforce Australia, the evening was not just about filling job vacancies—it was about building connections and envisioning a future where talent, passion, and opportunity align.

“The positive energy in the room was a testament to the success of the event, and we look forward to seeing the impact of these connections in the weeks and months to come,” Mr Crothers said.

The Business Chamber Employment EXPO demonstrated the strength of our community and the potential that lies within it. By creating opportunities for engagement and collaboration, we are not only helping people find jobs but also helping our local employers secure the talent they need to thrive.

We thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this event. We are excited to continue this momentum with future events that will further support our region’s growth and prosperity.
