King Charles III’s coronation will take place on Saturday and Moama’s Lynn Beasley is celebrating with a party.
“We are English, at the end of the day, so it is worth celebrating,” Mrs Beasley said.
“A bunch of us are getting together, mainly Australians, and there's a couple of Poms.
“Getting together and celebrating it ourselves, because it is a big occasion in England and it is quite sad that nobody’s doing anything.”
The gathering of family and friends will feature English fare including pork pies, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs and cucumber sandwiches.
“I love Scotch eggs, I do them regularly,” she said.
“I’ve bought my pork pies from Pacdon, because they are the best.
“We are going to do 70s fare, you know, remember the cheese with the little pickles on sticks.
“It is just going to be a fun laid-back night.”
Asked if she thinks King Charles will be on the throne until his death, Mrs Beasley said “100 per cent definitely”.
“They don’t give up easily, and are in it for the long haul, no matter whether it is a short or a long rein,” she said.
“He will be there until he passes away.
“And then we will get William and Kate, who will be amazing.”
Originally from the United Kingdom, Mrs Beasley and her family emigrated to Australia on Anzac Day 29 years ago for “a new life, something different”.
“We came from South Yorkshire and it gets quite cold there in winter, but I actually thought the sun shone permanently in Australia,” she said.
“I watched Neighbours religiously back home when I was young.
“So when I emigrated, I gave away all my boots and coats as we we were coming to Melbourne.
“When I got here, the sun wasn’t shining like it showed you on the telly and I had to buy new boots and coats.”
Five years ago Mrs Beasley and her husband moved to Moama after living and working in Melbourne.
"We have been coming to Moama for 28 years,” she said.
“We had a caravan in Horseshoe Lagoon and then we bought a house in Moama and used it as a holiday home
“We have semi-retired and moved to Moama and I love it, we are so happy here.’’
The King's coronation screens on Australian television networks from 5pm on Saturday, with the coronation expected to take place about 8pm.
