Corowa Police Beat

Corowa Police are wishing to locate the driver of this late model white Ford Falcon utility.

It has been a busy week for police on the roads in and around Corowa.

This started on Monday, August 26 when Howlong Police were required to attend the Chiltern Howlong Rd, Gooramadda to assist our friends and colleagues from Victoria Police with a disturbing truck rollover involving in excess of 600 sheep.

Roughly 280 sheep died or required euthanising by those attending the scene including Country Fire Authority, Department of Agriculture Victoria Rangers. Sergeant Mick Savage was most appreciative of the assistance from NSW Police stating he informed “Assistant Commissioner Russell Barrett in person yesterday how grateful I was for your assistance.”

Vehicle/motorcyclist collision

Late Tuesday afternoon August 27, a 24-year-old Corowa male was riding his motorcycle home along Redlands Road, Corowa when a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Corowa female pulled into a driveway across the path of the motorcyclist resulting in the motorcyclist colliding with the vehicle and being ejected.

Police and ambulance were called with the motorcyclist enduring a quick trip up to the hospital for treatment of a broken femur. The driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for failing to give way to the oncoming motorcycle.

Disqualified driver facing charges

Howlong police received information on Sunday, August 25 that a 51-year-old Howlong male had been seen driving an unregistered vehicle with false number plates on while he was disqualified by the court.

On August 28, the same male was observed again driving disqualified. On August 29 Police spoke to the male and issued him with a court attendance notice to attend Corowa Local Court on September 26.

Police seeking assistance on dangerous drivers

Corowa Police, in their crackdown on vehicles doing burnouts in the Corowa Industrial Area and the Corowa surrounds, are attempting to locate the driver of a later model white Ford Falcon utility captured below for Dangerous Driving Offences and Sustained Loss of Traction committed August 25 around 1.56pm.

If anyone has any information on the owner or driver of the vehicle, please contact Corowa Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Alternatively, the driver can come and see Sergeant Marshall for a private conversation.

Sergeant Marshall encourages anyone who has CCTV of similar acts in vehicles being undertaken to come and see Corowa Police with your footage due to the dangerous nature of people driving this way.

As this also occurs in the town limits Sergeant Marshall commented; “It will only take one young child to step out in front of someone driving like this for tragedy to hit this town again”.
