The race for election to the Greater Shepparton City Council is tightest in the Kialla Ward, further vote counting updates have confirmed.
Anthony Brophy (1566 votes) has slightly extended his lead over Terri Cowley (1419) to 147 votes, but it looks as if all preferences will need to be counted in the ward to find a winner.
Almost 85 per cent of the possible votes in the electorate have been counted.
Kamal Dhillon has secured 910 votes (20.12 per cent) and Brendan Gosstray 627 (13.87 per cent) in the count thus far.
Out of an enrolment number of 5120, 3858 votes — or 75.35 per cent — have been counted in the Lower Goulburn Ward.
Kieron Eddy (1711 votes or 45.53 per cent) has a significant lead, but not yet enough to avoid the count heading to second preferences.
Dinny Adem (900 or 23.95 per cent), Santhiya Subramaniam (577 or 15.35 per cent) and Garry Alexander (570 or 15.17 per cent) are next in line in the count.
In the McEwen Ward, Steven Threlfall has secured 2189 votes (58.92 per cent) to Ben Ladson’s 1526 (41.08 per cent) in the two-candidate race.
A significant 4.99 per cent informal vote rate has been noted, while only 3910 of 5313 (73.59 per cent) possible votes have been tallied.
Geoff Akers has almost secured a majority in the Pine Lodge Ward election, with 2213 votes (49.46 per cent).
Jac McCarty is second with 1019 (22.78 per cent), from Ian Martin (710 or 15.87 per cent) and Phillip Chua (532 or 11.89 per cent).
Of 5447 enrolments, 4584 votes (84.16 per cent) have been tallied.
A further update to the Yanha Gurtji Ward count was unavailable at the time of writing.
Earlier, secondary updates in the Balaclava Ward had Shane Sali (74.95 per cent) as the clear winner and in the Goulburn River Ward Paul Wickham (30.10 per cent), Emmersyn Rea (23.94 per cent) and Sherri Smith-Hoyer (20.11 per cent) led the way.
