Campaspe Shire Council has allocated $44,433.37 in funding to local organisations through its Community Grants Program.

Fourteen groups across the shire have been approved for grants, with individual organisations receiving up to $4000 each.

At their meeting on Tuesday, December 10, councillors unanimously carried the motion to approve these grants.

Grant recipients include Kiwanis Echuca Moama, Kyabram Italian Soccer Bocce Club, Rochester Basketball Association, Lockington & District Bush Nursing Centre Inc and Tongala Bowls Club.

“It’s really good that there’s a spread across the community,” Cr Paul Jarman said at the meeting.

“I encourage our community with smaller projects that otherwise don’t happen ... to take part.”

Kiwanis Echuca Moama has been granted $1500 to purchase fuel for the Kiwanis all-abilities boat to take Community Living Respite Services and VIVID participants on river cruises.

To enable participants to play during winter and in the evening, $4000 has been granted to Kyabram Italian Soccer Bocce Club.

Lockington & District Bush Nursing Centre Inc has been granted just over $3000 for the distribution of emergency essential bags with hygiene and personal care items for vulnerable people.

Around $2000 has been granted to Rochester Basketball Association for the purchase of basketballs and coach scoreboards.

For a new mural dedicated to the Tongala Bowls Club’s history, $3000 has been granted, with the piece to form part of the Tongala Art and Culture Trail.

This is the second of two rounds for the Community Grants Program, with round one recipients announced in June.
