Council installs new recreation space at SAM precinct

Open to all: The new space located at the SAM precinct is to be used by the community.

A unique play space for the community to utilise and enjoy has been installed outside the Shepparton Art Museum.

Funded by the Victorian Government, the area was constructed using natural elements instead of plastic and synthetic materials and was installed by Greater Shepparton City Council.

“This is not a traditional playground like many around our region,” Infrastructure Director Gary Randhawa said.

“This play space incorporates many elements of nature, which are not seen in any other playgrounds around Greater Shepparton.”

Its design allows children to climb, explore and play across the rocks, logs, sand pit and large turtle shell sculpture in the space.

In addition to the playground, a shelter with a barbecue, tables and seating, and a raised grass picnic area, have also been installed.

“Council believes these new additions compliment the beauty of Victoria Park Lake and the SAM precinct, and we look forward to seeing them put to good use,” Mr Randhawa said.
