Calling all aspirational young people!

The young people of Kyabram have the chance to receive a leg-up from Campaspe Shire Council with its grant program aimed at supporting youth skill building.

Council is taking applications for the Job Skill Grant to assist people aged between 16 and 25 looking to complete a short course or qualification.

The program is designed to remove the many roadblocks that may stand in a young person’s way to complete a qualification, such as course or tuition costs, transportation costs or service fees.

A grant awardee would be given a one-off payment of up to $250 to go towards helping complete a short qualification or course.

Mayor Rob Amos said it was a great opportunity for council to assist young people wanting to further their education and develop key skills.

“This grant program aims to remove barriers for young people trying to secure job-ready qualifications,” Mr Amos said.

“The idea is to put the funds towards course costs, tuition costs, transport costs or other roadblocks young people may face.

“Qualifications may include an RSA (responsible service of alcohol), barista course, white card, first aid, food handler, food safety supervisor, lifeguard training and many more,” he said.

The grants are funded through the Victorian Government’s ‘Engage!’ program, created to promote participation and skill development among young people.
