Greater Shepparton City Council is launching an early childhood educator recruitment day aimed at simplifying and expediting the application process for those interested in pursuing a fulfilling career in this field.

Named the ‘Empowering Early Years’ recruitment day, the event is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6.

It will feature two sessions, one at 9.30am and another at 1.30pm, both at the McIntosh Centre at the Shepparton Showgrounds.

The event’s primary focus is to offer a more accessible application process by allowing candidates to engage in casual conversations with council staff.

Registration is required to attend.

Greater Shepparton City Council early years manager Sally Rose expressed excitement about the event.

“Our early years department is instrumental in shaping the future of Greater Shepparton,” she said.

“These roles aren’t merely jobs; they’re opportunities to truly impact children’s lives.

“Our team is excited to connect with potential candidates face-to-face, understand their aspirations, and align them with suitable roles.”

Ms Rose also said the event would be inclusive and relaxed, making it suitable for both experienced professionals and those looking for a career change.

Council early childhood educator Caitlyn Menzie shared her rewarding experience in the early years sector.

“Every day we have the chance to make a difference in a child’s life, to support their development, and to create a positive and nurturing environment for them to grow,” Ms Menzie said.

“I strongly encourage anyone interested in this field to attend the recruitment day and take your next step towards a fulfilling career.”

The recruitment event will showcase various roles within council’s early years department, encompassing positions in long day dare, three- and four-year-old kindergarten, and occasional care.

With hopes of welcoming dedicated individuals to the early years department, council invites interested candidates to register for one of the sessions through its website: https://greatershepparton.com.au/whats-happening/events/event-details/!/464/event/early-years-recruitment-day-2023

For more information and registration assistance, individuals can contact council's people and development team at 5832 9700 or email council@shepparton.vic.gov.au

This comes after council announced it will be closing its family daycare service in late September and also announced new planning grants for kindergartens.
