Faces of the strategy: Greater Shepparton City Council project officer - diversity Jane O'Brien, positive ageing advisory committee chair Jeanette Doherty and councillor representative Cr Seema Abdullah.

Greater Shepparton City Council is recognising the challenges faced by an ageing population.

It has implemented a Positive Ageing Strategy to support and encourage the continuing participation of older people in the Greater Shepparton community, and consultations for this strategy have opened.

The strategy aims to provide feedback to the advisory committee on what more the council could do and how it could support the elderly.

The consultations will collect input from community members on how to shape the strategy.

Public consultation drop-in sessions will be on:

• Monday, February 20, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre

• Tuesday, February 21, from 1pm to 3pm at the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre

• Tuesday, February 21, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Shepparton Senior Citizens Centre

• Thursday, February 23, from 11am to 1pm at the Shepparton Senior Citizens Centre

• Friday, March 3, from 10am to 11am (online session)

People who are unable to attend the drop-in sessions can provide feedback through a survey located on the Shaping Greater Shepparton website: shepp.city/positive-ageing-strategy
