Moira Shire Council plans to collaborate with the community to shape the 2024-25 council budget and future budgets.
The council says it is eager to involve the community in its strategic planning process and ensure that any future budget reflects the priorities of its residents.
The 2024-25 budget aims to ensure it delivers what the community wants in service delivery and vital projects while ensuring financial security.
Residents are encouraged to share their priorities through user-friendly tools, including ranking priority services and voting on projects they’d love to see supported in the region.
Moira Shire Council interim chief executive Michael Tudball said the council believed in having a collective vision and collaborating with the community.
“The community’s priorities matter, and we are excited to work together to build a vibrant and resilient community,” Mr Tudball said.
According to council’s finance manager Beau Mittner, alongside next year’s budget, the council was also open to considering project proposals.
“Our project life cycle spans several years, allowing us to plan for the long-term future,” Mr Mittner said.
“We encourage community members to share their project ideas even if they are not feasible at this point in time. This will allow the council the opportunity to forward plan and work with the community and Federal or state government to see these ideas come to fruition in future years.”
Moira Shire Council is also revitalising its 10-year long-term financial plan, aimed to ensure the council is providing essential services and delivering priority capital projects in a financially sustainable manner.
Submissions for the 2024-25 budget close on Friday, January 19.
