It’s time to celebrate the end of another year and head to John Gray Oval for Mooroopna’s annual New Year’s Eve Festival.

Hosted by the Mooroopna Rotary Club, the event promises a fun evening for the whole family, with entertainment, rides and stalls and a stunning fireworks display to end the night.

The raffle will also be drawn, with this year’s big car prize a Kia Stonic Sport.

Things will also run a little differently than last year.

While we say goodbye to the street parade, we can expect non-stop entertainment, with musical acts Kamali Lamba, The Wong Brother, Monga Mukasa and SMAC getting longer sets at an hour each.

In lieu of the street parade, the festivities will also be kicking off at 6pm, so arrive at around 5.30pm with your chairs and picnic blankets to secure the best spot.

Past Mooroopna Rotary Club president Barb Joyce said organisers were expecting a big turnout.

“Let’s start the new year off on a positive and happy note,” she said.

“We will have stalls and kids’ entertainment around the oval and the crayfish wheel.”

There will be plenty of prizes to win on the night, as well as the big raffle prize.

Raffle tickets can be purchased online, on the night and during the lead-up.

Ms Joyce said you can find Mooroopna Rotary Club members selling tickets outside Mooroopna Woolworths, Kmart and the IGA in Shepparton.

Second, third and fourth place in the raffle will receive a $1000 voucher to a supermarket or hardware store of their choice, and people can spin the wheel to win a crayfish or a meat tray.

“We’re hoping everyone comes down, enjoys themselves and just relaxes,” Ms Joyce said.
