Boots are scooting, RM Williams leather is being polished and thousands of sets of vocal cords are warming up — the Goulburn Valley Country Music Festival is only days away.
The long-awaited event is finally rip-roaring its way into Shepparton, trailed by country music lovers from far and wide.
Featuring the likes of Casey Barnes and Lee Kernaghan, the inaugural event is set to be a stellar one.
Red Hill Entertainment co-founder and festival director Aidan McLaren said the support shown was unexpected but hugely appreciated.
“The Goulburn Valley region obviously loves country music, and we are so excited to be bringing it to the area, particularly when it's someone of such a high calibre like Lee Kernaghan,” he said.
“Personally, I can't wait to see Lee’s live show — he's Australia's most loved country music identity and an outback icon, and has achieved a staggering 39 number one chart hit songs over his career. I grew up listening to him with my family.
“To see a legendary performer like him in Shepparton is going to be very, very special, and I’m really looking forward to it, alongside everything else that will be going on throughout the day.”
Along with iconic country names, the festival is giving way to up and comers from the region, with local acts JB and Me, Madi Colville-Walker and Kane Vincent on stage.
Line dancing and whip-cracking demonstrations are among the other activities set to get Akubras shaking.
Attendees can also expect a feast of grand proportions, with tucker of all types, from woodhouse pizza to smokehouse barbecue, topped off with a malt-whisky truck among the on-site bars.
“This is an event for the community, by the community, so we want to see Shepparton show up and support the festival,” Mr McLaren said.
“Tickets are still available, so make sure to grab your ticket and join us for the ultimate celebration of all things country this weekend!”
The festival will take place at the Shepparton Showgrounds on Sunday, April 10. Tickets and more information is available via https://www.goulburnvalleycountrymusicfestival.com.au/
